FRIENDLY PLAY SET UP

HOW TO PLAY

Friendly Play is a simple and flexible way to enjoy The Beast Bazaar with family and friends. Build your stall, reveal your beasts, use action cards and create the highest-value collection before the trading week ends.

(I) STARTING THE WEEK Each player begins the game with 25 Gold. Players choose 5 Beast cards from their deck and place them face down in front of them to create their stall for the day. Before the first turn begins, players may spend Gold on Staff cards. Any remaining Gold can be saved for Action cards or added to the day's final score. Players then agree whether they are playing a 3-day, 5-day or 7-day trading week. (II) TAKING TURNS Starting with the youngest player and continuing clockwise, players take turns. Each trading day consists of 10 turns, representing 10 working hours. On your turn, you must do one of the following: + Reveal one face-down Beast card. + Play one Action card and pay its Gold cost. Players must choose carefully between displaying more beasts or using valuable action cards. (III) REVEALING BEASTS When a Beast card is revealed, it is placed on display in your stall. Each Beast has a base value which may be increased or decreased by Staff cards, Action cards and other effects. Any Beast cards that remain face down at the end of the day are considered undisplayed and provide no value during scoring. (IV) STAFF CARDS Staff cards help improve the value of your stall. Some staff specialise in certain types of beasts, while others provide unique bonuses and effects. Choosing the right staff can significantly increase the value of your collection. (V) ACTION CARDS Action cards allow players to influence the market. Some Action cards increase the value of your beasts, while others can interfere with rival stalls. Every Action card has a Gold cost, so players must decide carefully when it is worth spending their money. (VI) END OF THE DAY After every player has completed their 10 turns, the trading day ends. Players then calculate the value of their stall. To do this: + Add together the value of all revealed Beasts. + Apply any Staff card bonuses. + Apply any Action card effects. + Add any remaining unspent Gold. Record your final score for the day. (VII) STARTING A NEW DAY At the start of the next day, players may choose a new combination of Beast cards, Staff cards and Action cards from their deck. Unlike Competitive Play, Beast cards, Staff cards and Action cards may all be used again on future days. This allows players to experiment with different strategies throughout the trading week. (VIII) WINNING THE GAME Once the final day has been completed, add together your daily scores. The player with the highest total stall value at the end of the trading week wins.
